Hello Grade Four Family & Friends,
October, 27th, 2014
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a relaxing and
fun filled break. If you would like to share any pictures of your holiday with
the rest of Grade 4, please email the photos to Mr. Mark or Mr. Derick, or
bring them to school on an external hard-drive such as a flash-drive (thumb-drive).
We noticed that students were opening up lollypops
and other candy during our morning assembly, so we had a quick conversation as
a group regarding sugar and junk food consumption and how this affects our
learning. We are working with the children to become more personally
responsible in general, and we have decided to let the children be in control
of these decisions with a goal of making better decisions regarding dietary
habits during school hours. We would like to ask the parents to help by
supporting this effort to change students’ behavior regarding diet, and to
encourage more personal responsibility in general.
Tonight for homework you child will be reading to
you, and asking you sign an Internet Permission Slip. We need this form signed
and returned as soon as possible (tomorrow, Tuesday, would be awesome) because
once we have the parental permission that we need, we will remove the very
cumbersome, access restrictions that make it very difficult for people,
especially children, to enter the blog.
We are on schedule for round two of Creeper shirt
production on Thursday and Friday. We know that students are planning to wear costumes
on Friday for Halloween, and we encourage that; however, please be aware that
on Thursday and Friday we will be working with dyes and the students’ clothing,
including costumes, can be ruined. Please send your child to school on those
days in clothing that can get permanent dye on them, and on Friday, please
bring a change of messy clothing for dying if you child’s costume getting dyed
Creeper-green is of concern.
We are going to work very hard to provide an entry
to the blog every day, so please get that permission slip signed, and make it a
daily habit to read the Monday – Friday blog updates. The blog has a lot of information
regarding education in the literature section under the 21st Century
Learning tab.
