Hi Grade Four Friends!
Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope you all had
a relaxing break. The children seemed happy to be back at school today which
makes both Mr. Derick & Mr. Mark Happy.
Just a few bits of information to start us for the
second half of the schools year:
1. Mae
Kok Trip during the first week of February: Wed/4th – Fri/6th.
We will be following up with important information regarding that trip soon,
but know that your children will be traveling to Chiang Rai to the Mae Kok
Resort for outdoor learning activities. This will include two nights at the
resort.
2. Our
new Inquiry unit will be focused on Human Migration. We will be looking at
significant migrations from history, and the reasons we migrate and how
migration has changed over time. We will look at the world today and our own lives
in relation to migration too.
3. We
will be continuing with the Blogger site blog, so please check that for updates
and general communications such as the Daily Dose. The children will continue
to use the blog for homework assignments, and we are looking at other platforms
that offer better social networking opportunities.
4. We
are planning to hold end of unit potluck parties for the final three inquiry
units that we will be teaching this year. We will announce these events weeks
ahead of time, but know that we are aiming to start up this tradition as
mentioned before the break. This will be a time to review the children’s work
for the previous inquiry unit, and to look at the big idea and the inquiry
streams for the unit to follow. This will be a time to ask questions, and to
share concerns. Most importantly this will be a time for all of us to get
together and celebrate the children’s learning and to enjoy each other’s
company.
Please do not hesitate
to email or stop by the classroom if you have any questions or concerns, or
stop by the office to set up an appointment.
